Chinese Ceramic Wall Pocket Vase

Heavily potted high fired green glazed ceramic (stoneware) wall pocket vase with appliqued double lotus flower blossom (a symbol of purity, spiritual awakening and rebirth) on a large glossy stylized ruffled lotus leaf. Custom handcrafted in China, in early 21rst century and purchased in Hong Kong, in1990's trip.

The Chinese characters embossed on the back side read 'tao' (pottery) 'yi' (art) 'a' ( a prefix used before names to express familiarity or endearment) 'fang' (a given name meaning fragrant, virtuous or beautiful). This mark is a female artist's "chop" or seal, found on ceramic sculptures to identify the creator. In this case, the seal translates to "Ah Fang's Pottery Art". The primary location for the making of this pottery is in Jingdezhen, Jiangxi, China, which is widely known as the "Porcelain Capital" of the world.
